Tasting Notes: The 2016 Meyney displays a deep, rich colour and offers a stunning bouquet filled with intense black fruits, graphite, and violet undertones, all marked by a distinct mineral edge. The nose unfurls with aromas of cassis, dark cherry, and hints of exotic spices like nutmeg and mocha. Fine-grained, chalky tannins give the wine a tightly coiled energy that promises longevity. On the palate, it’s concentrated and plush, showing depth and a refined structure that releases layers of dark fruit, cedar, and hints of chocolate mint, gradually expanding mid-palate. The finish is harmonious and vibrant. Built to age, this Meyney reflects the classic St. Estèphe style and is perhaps the finest vintage since 1961. While it can be enjoyed now with decanting, it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 15–30 years, reaching its peak between 2026 and 2050.

Suggested food and wine pairing: Ribeye steak with garlic and rosemary butter, herb-crusted rack of lamb or aged cheeses.
