Barbaresco, Giuseppe Cortese
Type: Red Wine
Grape(s): 100% Nebbiolo
Wine Region: Barbaresco, Italy
Tasting Notes: This Barbaresco stands out for its harmonious, well-balanced expression, with a luscious floral-scented bouquet, magisterial structure and lingering taste. Expect dark cherry, plum, sage, lavender, menthol and cloves. 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels ranging in size of 17 to 25 hectolitres and in age of 5/6 years minimum.
The aim of the Barbaresco was to offer an alternative in terms of positioning and pricing between the ‘grand cru’ RABAJA and the LANGHE NEBBIOLO, whilst maintaining the identity and reputation of the Cortese brand.
JAMES SUCKLING – 93 pts Gorgeous, bright fruit aromas highlight this generous and super well-balanced wine. A lively feel backed by medium to full tannins gives it an appetising palate packed with raspberries, tart cherries and citrus accents. Best from 2025
Suggested food and wine pairing: Braised beef, truffle-infused pasta, or aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano.
