Trascuevas Blanco Rioja, Artuke
Type: White Wine
Grape(s): Viura, Malvasia, Palomino Fino
Wine Region: Rioja, Spain
Tasting Notes: Fermented with natural yeast and rested for 10 months in a mixture of French oak and cement barrels, you can expect a fantastic Burgundian nose of yellow apples, crushed lime and yellow flowers with delicate notes of oak. The palate is intense and mouth-filling yet elegant, with a fantastic minerality. A big white Rioja that combines freshness and fullness beautifully. The result is a wine that will age gracefully over the next 10 years but is equally impressive now.
The Estate: We’ve loved Bodegas Artuke’s red wines for years now, so we’re thrilled to be able to stock their first ever white wine. Named ‘Trascuevas’ after the vineyards located directly by the cellar (usually for producing the family’s own wine), only 2300 bottles were made. Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco are rising stars of Rioja, working old parcels of land organically and by hand to create really special wines.
Suggested food and wine pairing: Cheese, fatty fish, poultry, white fish, pork dishes.
