Szamorodni Dry 50cl, Breitenbach
Type: White Wine
Grape(s): Frumint
Wine Region: Tokaji, Hungary
Tasting Notes: Szamorodni (pronounced Sam-oh-rod-nee) is a Hungarian term that translates to "as it comes" or "as grown." It refers to a style of Tokaji wine made from whole clusters of grapes, some of which may be affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) and some that are not. In this case, expect a bone-dry wine with characteristics similar to Spanish Fino Sherry and Vin Jaune from France's Jura region.
Breitenbach is an artisanal Hungarian winery dedicated to natural grape growing and winemaking. Specialising in Dry Szamorodni, they cultivate Furmint and other native Hungarian varieties exclusively in premier and secondary historical regions. All grapes are hand-picked from vines that are 45 to 90 years old.
Suggested food and wine pairing: It's a perfect pairing with strong cheeses.
