Diamantakis Winery
Founded in 2007, the Diamantakis family has always been dedicated to showcasing Crete’s native varieties; Vidiano, Assyrtiko, Liatiko and Mandilaria. Located southwest of Heraklion, Diamantakis Winery sits at the foothills of Mountain Psiloritis, in the traditional village of Kato Asites. It is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, stretching across the slopes. In the distance, the port of Heraklion comes into view, with the sea breeze providing relief during the hot summer months, creating ideal conditions for the vines. However, daytime temperatures remain high, adding to the region’s unique growing environment.
Diamantakis Winery’s 15-hectare estate spans 30 plots in the Heraklion prefecture. The vineyards sit at 400 to 700 meters, allowing for high acidity and concentrated aromas, while the limestone-rich soils impart distinct characteristics.
