Condrieu L'Amaraze, Domaine Hervé Richard 2022
Type: White Wine
Grapes(s): 100% Viognier
Wine Region: Rhône Valley, France
Tasting Notes: This is a dry white wine, full-bodied that reveals a fine, light yellow colour. Powerful and complex. Aromas of peach, apricot and acacia flowers. Same aromas as on the nose with a beautiful roundness, to which is added a fine and elegant woodiness.
This vintage owes its name to the hillside “La Maraze”, visible from the estate, which is located in Saint Michel Sur Rhône. A third of the vintage is aged for 11 months in oak barrels.
Estate: This is a family estate in the small village of Chavanay located at the heart of the Pilat, at the top of the Rhône valley. Hervé and Marité Richard produce wines from 10 hectares of vines. The vineyards are all on very steep slopes, which cannot be worked mechanically so everything has to be done by hand… but what magnificent wines we get from them!
Suggested food and wine pairing: As an aperitif, with coconut chicken and sweet potatoes, scallops, dried apricot and fresh goat's cheese terrine, asparagus with mousseline sauce.
