Choosing the right wines for festive celebrations really helps set the tone for magical times with family and friends. Our Boozy Banquet Case is intended to help you do just that – celebrate! Expertly curated by our team, think of it as your capsule wine collection for Christmas Day.

This special case of Christmas wines will take you on a journey from that festive breakfast (because it’s more than acceptable to drink before 11am on Christmas Day!) through the main event and beyond, into that fuzzy state of comatose contentment that is Christmas night.

These wines come as a mixed case, and the price includes a discount of nearly 20%, so not only is it convenient, it's also great value too!

Cremant de Loire at Christmas

Bubbles for breakfast? Yes please! Our Cremant de Loire from Domaine de Landreau will get things off to a perfect start. A great alternative to Champagne, this is excellent with smoked salmon.

Anyone in need of a pick-me-up amongst the discarded wrapping paper? Whether you prefer a zippy white or a soft red, our case of classic Christmas wines has you covered.

Personally, we tend to reach for a New Zealand SB like Hawksdrift Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, fresh and lively, it’s equally good on its own or with pre-lunch nibbles.

If you prefer a red to get you in the spirit, we suggest our popular Artuke Rioja. This is packed with ripe red fruit flavours without any overbearing oak, and it’s also great slightly chilled. Incidentally, this is also our go-to wine for present wrapping on Christmas Eve, so we recommend buying a few extra bottles for the wine rack!

When you're in the mood for something a little weightier, our Vigneron's Selection Chardonnay, from legendary South African estate Glenwood is the white to reach for. Full of character, this chardonnay offers marmalade and orange on the nose with an elegant and rich palate of citrus. The long finish is creamy and mouth filling with notes of vanilla. A special wine indeed!

When an extra-special red wine is called for, we suggest Hawksdrift Pinot Noir. Strawberry, cherry and raspberry flavours are followed by layers of herbs and spices. Light, fresh and with a rounded mouthfeel, this is a serious wine which won't overwhelm the turkey.

Finally, as you sink into a satisfied, semi-comatose state on the sofa and watch The King’s Speech (what a novelty, writing that for the first time!) we highly recommend our Christmas port of choice, Eirados Ruby Port. A great value port from a 5th generation producer using traditional, sustainable methods, this is brimming with flavours of luscious cherries and strawberries.

Merry Christmas!

Here at Old Chapel Cellars, many of our wines are organic or biodynamic.
