International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women as well as being a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
Inspiring leaders come in many guises, and not all of them seek the limelight. Our Co-Owner, Louisa Fitzpatrick, is not a fan of the attention, but she may have to get used to it! Louisa, working closely with fellow owner Jamie Tonkin, has been the driving force behind our recent B Corp accreditation. Thanks to her determination we became the first wine merchant in the UK to achieve B Corp status, which demonstrates our commitment to the highest environmental and social standards.
In an interview to mark #IWD2022, Louisa said: "I think the wine industry has changed a lot, and these days there are many inspiring women in the business, and I certainly wouldn’t describe it as ‘male dominated’ anymore. I do think women face specific challenges in the course of their working lives but that’s across the board, and as more women rise to leadership roles things are changing for the better."
