Founded in 1991, Cedrick Bardin is a fourth generation family estate and is located in the heart of the village of Pouilly sur Loire (Upper Loire region of France). The estate extends over both banks of the Loire with vines spread over four appellations: Pouilly sur Loire, Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre and
Coteaux du Giennois. With total respect for the terroir and environment they adopt cutting edge techniques which have been passed down by their ancestors. At the start of 2016 the Domaine joined the Terra Vitis network, an environmentally friendly approach "from the vineyard to the bottle".
While Cédrick Bardin has vines in Sancerre and Giennois, Pouilly is his home. Pouilly-Fumé is fresh and crisp with herbal and green fruit character. The mouthfeel is dense, starting with citrus which turn into fine exotic fruits to end. It’s these citrus fruits that bring out the acidity and mineral texture of this well-balanced wine.
This Sancerre has aromas of white flowers and a freshness that makes it delicious just on its own. If pairing it with food it is perfect with goats cheese where the wine’s crisp minerality cuts through the creamy texture of the cheese. It is also a good partner to fresh oysters, grilled fish or a fruits de mer. On the palate the wine has fruit flavours of apricot and peach that develop into notes of orange blossom. A wine of great complexity and a long finish. Jamie set out to find the perfect Loire producer for Old Chapel Cellars. We started trading with Cedrick Bardin about 8 years ago. They are a small family run domaine who own their own vineyards.
